EDO state declares 24 hours Curfew amidst EndSARS Protest

The Edo State government has announced that on Monday, October 19, from 4 pm until further notice, there will be a 24-hour curfew across the state.

This was revealed in a series of tweets on the State Governor, Godwin Obaseki @GovernorObaseki's Twitter handle.

The State Government Secretary's statement signed by Osarodion Ogie Esq stated that the 24-hour curfew was enforced because of the alarming incidents of vandalism and attacks by hoodlums claiming to be demonstrators of # EndSARS on private individuals and institutions.

Although, the Edo State government respects the rights of its people to participate in lawful demonstrations, when hoodlums have taken laws into their hands to create havoc for innocent citizens and the state, it will not sit idly.

According to the order of the government, schools and companies in the state are to shut down operations accordingly. Ogie went on to note that before calmness is restored in the state, anyone who can not travel safely should stay put between now and 4 pm.
