The PDP's governorship nominee in the Ondo state governorship election, Jegede, was earlier stated to have won a landslide victory in two local government areas: Akure South and Akure North. In the early hours of Sunday, October 11, the Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC) declared the results.

Jegede polled 47,627 votes in Akure South to beat Rotimi Akeredolu, the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate, who received 17, 277 votes. The Zenith Labor Party (ZLP) candidate, Agboola Ajayi, received 3,623 local government votes. Jegede polled 12,263 in Akure North to defeat Akeredolu, who secured 9,546 votes, and Ajayi, who obtained 1,046 votes.

In another post, a video allegedly showing the wife of the Ondo state governor, Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, being assaulted during voting was identified as fraudulent. On Saturday, October 10, the Ondo state first lady told Channels TV that desperate politicians were behind the fake video.
