BREAKING!!! Board gives reasons for the suspension of JAMB NIN registration to candidates |Why we suspended NIN registration for 2020

Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board(JAMB) abolished/suspends the requirement for a National Identity Number for candidates seeking admission to tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

It follows the public outcry and uncertainty of candidates who are seeking to register for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination 2020.

JAMB Registrar Prof. Ishaq Oloyede said in a new initiative that the National Identity Management Commission will establish registration centers at all computer-based test centers across Nigeria “for candidates, who do not have the NIN to avoid difficulties in writing the examination.”

The board(JAMB) declared in October 2019 that NIN will be a requirement for all prospective applicants to register for the 2020 UTME.

Report suggests that some prospective UTME candidates expressed disappointment with the NIN's lengthy registration and verification method.

Large number of candidates overwhelmed the Lagos and Abuja registration centers, as NIMC workers were unable to respond to them all.
