BREAKING!!! Orji Uzor-Kalu,ex Abia Governor guilty of N7.65bn fraud and gets 12 years imprisonment

On Thursday, December 5, a Federal High Court in Lagos reportedly found Orji Uzor Kalu, senator and former governor of the state of Abia, guilty of alleged N7.65 billion fraud.

Uzor-Kalu has been found guilty with two others in the alleged fraud, according to The Nation. Reports claims that the co-defendants of Kalu were also found guilty by his company, Slok Nigeria Limited, and Udeh Udeogu, a former finance and account manager under him as governor.

Justice Mohammad Idris presided over the court sentenced Orji Kalu to 12 years in prison. The jail sentence also came with other three to five-year concurrent terms.

For various terms between three and 10 years, the other two defendants were slapped.

The court's judgment came weeks after an appeal court rejected an application filed by Mao Ohuabunwa, the candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) for the Abia North senatorial district, against the victory of Kalu.

In his reaction, Uzor-Kalu, a member of the All Progressive Congress (APC), said he had nothing to say but to give God the Almighty all thanks and glory.

Previouslyly, Uzor-Kalu, who ruled Abia between 1999 and 2007, told the court during one of the trials that within the initial six months of his first term he ruled the state with his personal money. He said that what was not in life/existence could not have been stolen.
